CNC Operation (computer numerical control)
Teamwork and Collaboration
Balance of Independent Work and Guidance
Creative Problem Solving
Sustainable Building and Design

Strong Roots is an intensive, hands on opportunity for young people who have expressed an interest in sustainable art and design as a potential career path. Strong Roots was designed as a way to bring professionally-guided experience in the arts to areas of LA where these kids of opportunities are often difficult to come by.

For their final project, the interns combine the skills they learned to create their own sustainable art piece and present it to the community in an open forum.

In 2012 RuckusRoots completed a pilot Strong Roots internship with five high school students from Academia Avance in Highland Park, CA. Besides assisting in several commercial art projects, the interns completed their own TRASHformation-based art pieces and showed them at the Taste of Highland Art art walk in March 2012.
