Allegra Bick-Maurischat
Operations & Communications Manager (she/her)
Born and raised in downtown San Jose, California, Allegra grew up barefoot and screen-free on the urban homestead her parents created in the heart of the city — where creativity, caring for the planet, and a sense of social responsibility was instilled in her from birth.
As Operations and Communications Manager, Allegra oversees all RuckusRoots’ social media platforms, newsletters, website, and communication strategies, as well as providing operational, grant-writing, and fundraising support. She has over a decade of experience developing and teaching creative curricula grounded in sustainability and creative reuse practices, as well as 6 years under her belt as a brand consultant, copywriter, and content creator for both global corporations and small, independent businesses.
Allegra studied Studio Art at New York University, ultimately receiving her BFA in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute. She also holds a Teaching Certificate from the Rudolf Steiner College, where she studied Anthroposophy and Early Childhood Education. She maintains a rigorous art practice exploring relationships between found ephemera, historical narratives, and the act of deep looking from her studio in Santa Cruz, CA, and has exhibited her work widely.
When not working remotely for RuckusRoots, you can find Allegra either making art, learning new ways to live more sustainably, trail running in the redwoods with her pups, diving into a new knitting project, or napping.
