Chandi Gordon

South L.A Project Coordinator (she/they)

Born and raised in South Central LA, Chandi is passionate about environmental justice, access to green spaces, and placemaking in black and brown neighborhoods like hers. The daughter of a Belizean single mother, Chandi’s passion for the environment has driven her to study environmental science and urban and regional planning (MURP) to learn more about how planning can affect communities' access to resources.

In the past, Chandi has worked in toxicology, food waste prevention, abolition, children’s literacy, extreme heat planning, and more but has recently been focused on increasing pathways and access to nature for underserved communities. Championing sustainability, equity, and inclusivity, Chandi aims to incorporate her love for urban planning and design, creativity, and art into projects with Ruckus Roots that bolster and empower communities of color.

Day-to-day Chandi can be found organizing workshops, finding new collaborators, gardening, and sneaking art into all her work. In her free time, Chandi loves to try new recipes and force her family to hike.
