Leah Olbrich
All Programs Coordinator (she/her)
Leah is a lifelong artist and ruckus-raiser. She grew up in New Jersey, spending her childhood making stone soup and playing with the worms in her parent’s epic compost bin. She later moved to NYC to study illustration, then Los Angeles to study puppetry (yes, that’s a real thing!), working as a puppet fabricator for stop motion animation for a decade. She also has experience in social action, non-profit administration, social media & special education.
As All Programs Coordinator for RuckusRoots, Leah helps plan and execute our eco-art programs, both behind the scenes and boots on the ground. She loves being part of the creative problem-solving that culminates in some of her favorite things—art, activism, and working with kids.
Growing up with a trowel in one hand and a paintbrush in the other, at an early age Leah learned the importance of caring for both our planet and the people who inhabit it and how vital art is for both expression and human connection. These missions are more essential than ever these days.
In her spare time, Leah loves reading, going on walks and doing yoga, fighting the patriarchy, learning about anatomy, and on really good days she is making whimsical creature sculptures or wearable art out of cardboard.
